Description of Session
Physical Education Micro-credential

The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) is offering a new and free virtual professional learning opportunity for physical education and health teachers across the state. The Meaningful Physical Education micro-credential is designed to deepen educators’ understanding of how to deliver engaging, student-centered physical education that promotes lifelong physical activity and well-being.

Health Education Micro-credential

This virtual professional development learning modules for the health education micro-credential, which was created in compliance with the Health Education Act (70 O.S. § 11-103.13) and to support educators who will be implementing health education instruction for PreK-12th grade students by the 2023-2024 school year and beyond. The purpose of these virtual learning modules is to provide a foundation of knowledge and build the capacity of best practices for teaching effective health education.

Coordinated School Health

Healthy students are better learners—and schools play a vital role in supporting both academic and health outcomes. In this session, participants will explore the powerful connection between student health and academic achievement while learning strategies to improve both. Discover how to build and sustain effective school-community partnerships, maximize existing resources, and use data to identify and prioritize health initiatives that support academic success. Whether you're just getting started or looking to enhance your current efforts, this session offers practical tools to help integrate health into your school’s academic mission.

Student Engagement

The goal of this training is to develop an understanding of how to increase student engagement in the physical education setting by addressing positive classroom environment, skill development, and relationship building.

Meaningful Physical Education (MPE)

What makes physical education meaningful for students—and how can we create experiences that resonate? In this engaging and interactive session, participants will explore the core principles of Meaningful Physical Education (MPE) and learn how to apply them in their own teaching practice. Together, we will define what MPE looks like, discuss strategies for integrating it into daily instruction, and examine tools and resources that support its implementation. Through hands-on learning activities that highlight key elements such as motor competence, challenge, social connection, and joy, educators will leave with practical ideas and inspiration to make every movement moment matter.

Health Education

This training helps teacher learn best practices to enable students to make informed, healthy choices starts with building their health literacy. Participants will explore a clear path to developing health literacy through a skills-based approach to health education. Then, review essential components of skill development—such as decision making, communication, and goal setting—and examine how these can be effectively taught in the classroom. Participants will also engage in a model health lesson and discover practical resources to support high-quality health instruction. Leave with strategies to help students build lifelong health skills through meaningful, standards-aligned learning experiences.

Physical Activity with MTSS

Looking to energize your classroom and support student success? This session will explore the purpose and benefits of incorporating physical activity into academic settings and provide a variety of practical strategies for doing so. Participants will learn how to integrate movement into classroom routines, transitions, and academic interventions—particularly within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. Attendees will also discover easy-to-access resources to support implementation and will actively engage in sample activities that blend physical activity with academic goals. Leave with tools, ideas, and confidence to make movement a meaningful part of your classroom culture.
