Outdoor pursuits: Activities that include recreational boating (e.g., kayaking, canoeing, sailing, rowing); hiking; backpacking; fishing’ orienteering or geocaching; ice skating; skateboarding; snow or water skiing; snowboarding; snowshoeing; surfing; bouldering, traversing or climbing; mountain biking; adventure activities; and ropes courses. The selection of activities is depending on the environmental opportunities within the geographical region.

2. Safety protocols: the system of rules and acceptable behavior used in order to stay safe while participating in an activity.

• Use community supports to help show activities.

• Bring in flyers/pamphlets/programs for community activities.

• Share activities on social media platforms (as allowed by school) to show families activities they can participate in together.

• Provide visual aids like diagrams, pictures, or illustrations to enhance understanding of safety protocols and skill development in outdoor activities.

• Allow the student to use technology devices such as tablets or computers to access online resources related to outdoor pursuits and safety measures.

• Pair the student with a peer buddy who can support and guide them during outdoor activities and discussions about critical cues and skill development.

• Offer alternative assignments or assessments that focus on the student's strengths and interests related to outdoor pursuits, such as creating presentations about community activities or safety measures in outdoor settings.
