Teacher Insights
|
-
Balance: An even distribution of weight which allows someone or something to stay upright and steady.
-
Horizontal plane: A plane is an imaginary flat surface. All body movements occur in different planes. Students can move within the horizontal plane by jumping and landing (e.g., forward, backwards, or side to side).

Jumping: Pushing yourself off a surface with both feet and landing with both feet.
-
Locomotor skills: Skills that consist of a group of fundamental motor skills that allow individuals to navigate through space or move their body from one point to another. These include running, galloping, hopping, skipping, jumping, leaping and sliding.
|
-
Allow time for students to practice with/without demonstration videos.
-
Lead up activity could be allowing students to jump for distance with a partner
-
Praise and encourage students as dance and gymnastics might not be activities that they are comfortable in doing.
